The Beginnings
The year was 2012, and Realtor, Bob Slawson was assisting potential custom home buyers identify appropriate homesites and choose from a collection of pre-designed models available in Zionsville’s Stonegate neighborhood. One model had the right style, but not the right layout. Another model had the right layout, but not the right size. It was only after listening to client after client become frustrated with not being able to find just the right combination of features that Bob had an epiphany. Enter Nick Winings.
At that same time, Nick was doing construction management for a custom home builder in Stonegate along with a few other custom neighborhoods. When Bob and Nick met, they both realized, one in the other, that there was a large segment of the custom home market being underserved—many custom buyers, particularly “rightsizers”, who needed completely custom solutions that fit very individual needs. It was at that very moment; Woodstock Custom Homes was born.
The idea was simple in concept but not so simple in execution. With no existing clients and no portfolio of completed homes to show, the two set out to test their shared beliefs in a series of spec homes, designed by Bob and built by Nick… a “build it and they will come” moment was underway.

In the years since that humble beginning, Woodstock has evolved into one of the top custom home builders in the central Indiana market, while remaining true to that original vision.
