Welcome to Sophia Square! We visited this summer and sat down for a conversation with Alison Melton, Real Estate Services, to find out how it all came to be.  The name “Sophia Square” sounds very cosmopolitan. What was its genesis?  Sophia means wisdom in Latin and is also the name of Ersal Ozdemir’s daughter. Ersal is the developer of Sophia Square. Because of its personal relevance and origin, the name seemed like a perfect fit for this European style development.  What was the inspiration behind its construction? Keystone wanted to create a well-designed structure that would improve the overall quality of living for its tenants while contributing to the surrounding area. The central location,  green features and first floor retail shops were all important factors in the planning phase. The fun and entertaining features found throughout the building were also key components to give tenants the chance to enhance their leisure time and social interactions by eliminating the need to travel and/or pay for such amenities. How many apartments are available in Sophia Square?  How successful have rentals been and what are the demographics of its residents?

There are a total of 202 apartments in Sophia Square which are currently 97% leased. Four of these are three bedroom/three bath units, while the rest are two bedroom/two bath or one bedroom/one bath units. All are named after European locales in keeping with its architecture. Residents are diverse in nature and range from those in small size families to high end executives, middle aged professionals and empty nesters looking for simplicity. The community provides an appealing lifestyle to anyone seeking a location where you can be active and enjoy dining, shopping and a wonderful night life within a city block. Word about its existence has reached more and more Carmel residents as evidenced by its increased usage.  How has proximity to the Monon Greenway benefitted Sophia Square? The Monon Greenway has been fantastic for residents who enjoy walking, running, biking and skating on a designated safe path.
