The Barrington opens its doors to Carmel
More than 300 gathered to celebrate the grand opening of The Barrington of Carmel, which opened its doors May 29, for special guests to come and get a preview.
The Barrington will serve more than 330 residents and create more than 200 jobs as a result of the $119 million project on Guilford Road, just north of 116th Street . The Barrington of Carmel is bringing an innovative approach to retirement living and is dedicated to providing resort-like amenities to individuals who call this community home.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony included Carmel City Council President Eric Seidensticker and Council Parliamentarian and past President Rick Sharp, along with other dignitaries and guests, including a community art showcase tour with the local artists to discuss their work, performances by keyboardist Elaine Clark, harpist Abigal Acosta, Blue Dorian Jazz and Don Farrell, Judy Fitzgerald and Cynthia Collins of Actors Theatre of Indiana.
The Barrington is a place for seniors to lead a very active and engaged lifestyle at any level with its state-of-the-art continuum of care through The Plaza at The Barrington. The Plaza provides health services to allow residents to age in place and receive any and all levels of care on the same campus as needed, including assisted living, memory support and private skilled nursing.
The Barrington of Carmel offers Masterpiece Living® – a scientifically-based research program that assesses physical health, social engagement, meaning and purpose, intellectual health as well as overall health risks and the mobility of residents on an individual basis. The assessments help to identify where they are in each area and a personalized plan is created to achieve improvement in the areas needed. Their progress will be tracked and monitored based on the preliminary Lifestyle Review, which serves as the benchmark, to ensure everyone is aging successfully from the moment the residents arrive at The Barrington.
“We are all so excited to welcome people inside our Barrington community,” said Troy Cannaday, executive director. “Our theme, ‘A New Adventure Awaits,’ could not be more accurate: an adventure truly does await seniors after retirement, and we want them to live it out to the fullest here.”
Situated on a 19-acre campus on Guilford Road off 116th Street, The Barrington began its phased opening in November 2013. It features 134 maintenance-free, independent living apartment homes and embraces the wellness-minded attitude of today’s older adults. The community provides a variety of services and amenities, including fine dining, a bistro, fitness and wellness centers, creative arts studio, salon and spa, library, housekeeping, scheduled transportation and more.
In addition to the resort-style independent living residences, The Plaza at The Barrington provides a full range of health care services for an onsite continuum of care. Care levels include assisted living, memory support and private skilled nursing. The phased opening for The Plaza began in February.
