New 'Indie Music' venue comes to Carmel
Creative arts entrepreneurs Heather Ramsey Clark and Blair Clark are staying busy these days preparing for all that lies ahead. Up next on their agenda: opening an independent music venue in the heart of Carmel’s Arts & Design District.
“We’re thrilled by the reception we’ve received from the community as we launch our latest venture,” says Ramsey Clark. “We wanted to provide a home for artists of any age and genre to have a place to showcase their music and bring in their fans. Fans today want an up-close-and personal experience with the musicians they love, and The Warehouse will bring them just that.”
Of this latest venture, Clark says, “The Warehouse will be a multi-use venue available for rent to many groups – it’s perfectly suited for live music, spoken word events, meetings, parties, church services, swing dance…just about anything a small group or organization would want to do will be possible here.”
The facility is scheduled for a soft opening May 4 and will feature Midwest School of Voice MVP (Modern Vocal Performer) Program students in their bi-annual live band showcase. Beginning June 1 the facility will be open for rentals and live shows. The venue will also feature a bar and artist gallery in the lobby area, with quarterly artwork features by local artists.
Local non-profit and community service-based performance group Young Voices Inspire will be artists in residence at the new facility, with their 2014 Season Premier on June 21, 2014. Located at 254 1st Avenue SW, adjacent to the Monon Trail and in between Carmel’s old post office and the old fire station, The Warehouse is a state of the art performance venue fit for local performance artists, as well as those from across the country. Audiences can expect a unique experience with their favorite performers, as well as opportunities to experience new sounds and styles of music.
The Warehouse is dedicated to continuing and advancing the live performance tradition by providing a home for all genres and ages in a fun, unique, intimate atmosphere. For more information about The Warehouse, and for bookings and rental information, call (317) 661-1760 or visit liveforthemusic.com
