J.C. Hart leading the way in Carmel's apartment scene

All across the nation, apartment living seems to be growing, especially among young people who are in no hurry to buy a home, get married or start a family. This is also the same generation that carries high student debt and rely more on public transportation and walkable, bicycle-friendly communities.

Evidence of this trend can be seen throughout Carmel, where new apartment construction in the summer of 2015 is happening fast and furiously.

J.C. Hart Company, Inc., a Carmel-based multi-family residential developer, is among those leading the way in Carmel, the Northside of Indy and Hamilton County. In Carmel, two new projects of note are currently under construction,

>>> Lakeside Apartments of Carmel, a joint venture with Atapco Properties of Baltimore, MD, is beginning to take shape along City Center Drive, just west of City Center. The project will include 283 luxury one, two and three bedroom garden style apartments with rents ranging from the $900s to $1,500s.


>>> Highpointe on Meridian, just off of U.S. 31, south of 136th St. situated on Illinois. Hightpointe in Meridian is just minutes to Clay Terrace mall. Highpointe will feature 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms as well as 1 bedroom flats and townhomes. Attached garages are a plus of Highpointe on Meridian. Rents will range from $700-900s to $1,400-1,700s.


J.C. Hart Company, Inc., is a shining star among apartment developers. In 2014, the Carmel-based multi-family residential developer, was named Business of the Year at the Carmel Chamber’s annual awards luncheon.

The Business of the Year Award was presented to J.C. Hart, which at the time had 110 employees and 2,586 residential units in Hamilton County that they have or are building, own and manage. J.C. Hart is also currently adding a second phase of 77 units to Legacy, consisting of twenty 1 and 2 bedroom garden apartments, four duplexes, twenty 2 bedroom townhomes and thirty-three 3 bedroom townhomes. The duplexes and townhomes include their own private one or two-car attached garages.

Hart, Jr. John, Sr. had been a hall of fame builder with over 10,000 housing units in the Indianapolis area since the early 1950’s.
