Going high-tech at Woodland Terrace
Just because you’ve decided to take the step into senior living, doesn’t mean you have to be unplugged from the rest of the online world.
Many of today’s new senior residential communities are coming equipped with the latest in technology to make it easy to keep up with family through online connections such as Facebook and Instagram.
At Woodland Terrace of Carmel, which is scheduled to open this summer, each resident will receive a 42-inch smart television for their apartment, with free cable and free WiFi, giving them the ability to stream entertainments apps such as internet music stations, web browsers and video rental services and more on one device by simply using their TV remote control.
This will also allow residents to connect to LifeShare technology, which is described as like having a concierge right in your living room. Each resident will receive a small set top device that connects to their Smart TV and the Internet. Receiving and sharing messages, pictures and videos from family and friends has never been easier. Residents will be able to communicate with family, put in maintenance requests and message the concierge desk all with the LifeShare device. In addition, they can get on-screen alert messaging and activity reminders.
LifeShare also provides digital signage in key common areas to keep residents, families and guests informed about event schedules, trips, classes, activities, church services, menus, in room dining, scheduled maintenance and housekeeping throughout the building. Residents may also access this same information in their apartments.
There will be 100 percent wireless internet connectivity throughout the building including the resident rooms and courtyard. This WiFi connectivity will allow residents to use their phones, tablets and laptops throughout the building. Residents will be able to log onto their WiFi in their apartment and stay on that WiFi throughout the building without logging back into a separate WiFi once leaving their apartment.
For more information, visit the Woodland Terrace showroom at 15 E. Main Street, Carmel, Mon – Fri, 9 am – 6 pm or Sat – Sun, 10 am – 5 pm.
