Dentist is all smiles with new Carmel office
Dr. Zachary Held, D.D.S., has been practicing dentistry since he graduated from Indiana University Dental School in 2009. He has worked in Indianapolis, Fishers and Greenfield. But last fall, when two long-time local dentists decided to retire, the Indianapolis native decided to launch a new business in Carmel — North College Dental — opening last year and now settling into the comfortable new office at 10445 North College Avenue.
"We opened at the beginning of 2013," Dr. Held said. "Two older doctors (Drs. Jacklin and Bitar) retired and sold me the building along with their practices."
He spent six months renovating and modernizing the office — with a single goal in mind: Comfort.
"We use the most up to date equipment to assure the best procedures and the newly renovated office has been redesigned to put patients at ease," Dr. Held said. "We put televisions in each room as well as your choice of music to help make your time in the office as relaxing and comfortable as possible."
Can't say the same about his various athletic opponents over the years.
An avid competitor, Dr. Held was a Division 1 tennis player at IU and is now an avid golfer. During his tennis career, hear one ATP point and was once ranked No. 1,260 in the world. Both of his older brothers also played tennis as he did, both at North Central High School and IU.
And then there was the national level paddle tennis tournament he won … but that's another story.
The new office has a staff that includes four employees who have worked together as a team for the past 12 years.
Dr. Held and his wife of five years, Liz, have a daughter, Natalie who is 4, and a son, Alexander, who is nearly 1. Coming from a very close family, the good doctor's two brothers are not far away. Andrew is a real estate developer for Pedcor and David works in anesthesiology at St. Vincent Hospital. His father, Dave, is an avid photographer whose pictures are used to decorate the walls of the dentist office. His mother, Connie, was a licensed dental hygienist before passing away 13 years ago.
At North College Dental, services include dental hygiene, implants, cosmetic, pediatric, oral surgery and orthodontic services, along with other services. All in a state of the art facility that meets and surpasses all OSHA and CDC standards.
When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Held likes to spend time with his family going on long walks, playing games or taking a dip in the pool (or lake). He also keeps up his golf game, paddle tennis and a variety of board games and video games.
"Really, any kind of game," he said.
