Piano instruction has been shown to be a wonderful hobby for adults, not only for the social aspect, but also for stress relief and “boosting” your brain power every time you sit down to play. Options for mature students include: ‘the practice room’ format in weekly 30 minute sessions, ‘the concert hall’ with either weekly or bi-weekly 45 minute sessions and ‘the virtuoso’ with weekly or bi-weekly 60 minute sessions.

The Art Studio of Carmel

Four teachers, active and retired, started an art studio at the corner of Rangeline and 3rd Street N.E. for students of all ages. Penny Roberson offers “Footsteps In Painting” for adults who have never painted, painted long ago or just want to learn more. 

Friday nights are “Paint the Night Away” from 7-9 pm with Penny and Cy with students completing a painting in one evening.

Classes are $25 per class which include supplies and generally run two hours.

Carmel Theatre Company

The theatre known previously as The Rep has been renamed and relocated to its previous location across from Woody’s Restaurant in downtown Carmel. With seats for about 60+ patrons, this intimate space offers winter classes for anyone interested in theatre. Class sizes are limited and will include instruction on preparing for an audition, including rehearsing a song and choosing a monologue. You will also perform scenes with other students. This is excellent experience for public speaking.
